Cat Vaccinations

What Core Shots Should My Cats Get?

We may recommend getting vaccines that protect your pet against these diseases:

●             Distemper or feline panleukopenia virus

●             Rabies

●             Feline viral rhinotracheitis

●             Feline leukemia virus

●             Feline caliciviruses

What Non-Core Might My Cats Need?

Some vaccines aren’t always needed but some cats might benefit from them, depending on their lifestyle. Cats that frequently go outside, for example, might be at higher risk of certain diseases. We may recommend vaccinating against these diseases during your cat’s wellness exam:

●             Chlamydophila felis

●             Feline leukemia virus

●             Bordetella

When Do My Cats Need Vaccinations?

Feline vaccines start when kittens are several weeks old. You can have your cats or kittens get his shots during his wellness exam or you can bring them in at other times to have vaccines updated as needed.

A vet on our team will let you know when and how often your cats should have vaccinations. Some might need to have them updated each year and others might only need them updated every few years. It depends on the kind of vaccines they get.

Are Cat Vaccines Safe for My Pets?

Cats may experience mild side effects that only last for a few hours or more. These include:

●             Redness and/or swelling at the injection site

●             Less energy than usual

●             Soreness at the injection site
